Aging Gracefully

My belief is that aging is all in your mind. Act younger and you’ll look younger.

Looking in the mirror, do you see vertical lines above the lips, sparse eyebrows, acne around the period time of month, facial hair, or have sagging breasts? These are all signs of hormonal imbalances.

“The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the urge to throw a snowball.”
Doug Larson

As baby boomers, we are moving toward old age. Well, not me anyway. There are few certainties in life, and getting older is one of them. Some of us fight the signs of aging more vigorously than others. We all deserve to look and feel young. I’ve met several people in their eighties and nineties who have inspired me with their sharp minds and zest for life. We should all strive to keep a genuine enthusiasm and be positive each day.

My belief is that aging is all in your mind. Act younger and you’ll look younger.

My wife says I have aged, but only to a mid-teenager. I’m proud of it. Just last year, for my 50th birthday, I bought a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and spent a hefty sum to have it lifted to a macho height. I have actually used it many times and have bonded with my wife and daughter in Moab and other places in Utah. I’m not one to buy things strictly for looks, and comfort is obviously not on my list.

The human body has an amazing ability to handle stress, and can generally have 90% of its reserves depleted before feeling much of an effect. Stress reduces antioxidant levels and depletes the immune system. If you bottom out, you’ll feel sick-mentally, physically, or spiritually, depending upon your individual weaknesses. When you start to heal, the reserves are restored, but it may take weeks or months, even though you may begin to feel good at 20% to 30% restored reserves.

Sagging organs or tissue are a sign that specific minerals are greatly depleted. Through a six-month research on Cell Salts (a method of supplying minerals to the cells of the body), I discovered that the face is a reflection of inner health. (See Facial Diagnosis of Cell Salt Deficiencies by David R. Card). This study will be published soon and include before-and-after facial pictures, showing improvement in lines, texture, and more.

Here are a few ideas that can make a difference, and slow the aging process: Clean up your diet. Eat living, healthy food. Eliminate tobacco, alcohol, coffee, soda pop, dairy products, fast foods, and limit pork. Stay away from drugs (legal or illegal).

Exercise moderately at least 4 times a week, including cardio and strength training.

Women, can regulate their hormones by staying away from chemical birth control, “bio-identical hormones,” and hormone replacement. There are natural means of getting your body to produce its own hormones sufficiently; exercises and herbs which stimulate sufficient production. Looking in the mirror, do you see vertical lines above the lips, sparse eyebrows, acne around the period time of month, facial hair, or have sagging breasts? These are all signs of hormonal imbalances.

Emotional honesty is part of anti-aging and over-all health. If I smile I mean it. Over the years, I have developed an emotional honesty with myself loved ones, and have become a more open person. This allows me to be free of stress quite often.

Each one of us has challenges and nobody gets out alive; we could leave this life at any time. But we do have a choice of quality of life now. Choose to eat healthy, exercise, take care of your spirit, and keep a genuine positive outlook on life.
